To estimate mRNA steady-state levels we used RNA extracted from logarithmically growing fisson yeast cells on Affymetrix Yeast 2.0 Genechip arrays. The signal intensities from two independent biological repeats were averaged, resulting in measurements for 4818 out of 4962 nuclear protein-coding genes.

Human leukocyte cones were obtained from anonymous blood donors and peripheral blood B cells were isolated from PMBCs following ficoll density centrifugation. Isolated B cells were cultured in normoxia or 1% O2 for 24 h and RNA was extracted using an RNeasy Mini kit (Qiagen). This study was approved by the East of England - Cambridge Central Research Ethics Committee (REC reference 08/H0308/176).
