Acute brown adipose tissue activation in mice (TN. vs. CL 2h)
  • organism-icon Mus musculus
  • sample-icon 2 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge IconIllumina HiSeq 4000

Description

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is specialized for UCP1-dependent uncoupled thermogenesis. BAT is not thermogenic under an unstimulated state; whereas can be quickly activated to generate heat after sympathetic activation. CL316,243 is a specific agonist of beta3 adrenergic receptor on brown adipocytes. Treatment of CL316,243 in mice leads to potent and specific activation of BAT. The goal of this project is to characterize acute gene expression alterations in the early stage of BAT thermogenic activation.

Expression data from metanephric mesenchyme induced to convert into nephron epithelia
  • organism-icon Rattus norvegicus
  • sample-icon 42 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Rat Genome 230 2.0 Array (rat2302)

Description

During kidney development segmented epithelia of the nephron derive from progenitor cells in the metanephric mesenchyme after induction by secreted molecules from the ureteric bud. We have identified three distinct inductive activities from a ureteric bud cell line. These include leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and an active fraction currently referred to as ANX. Each of these activities induces segmented nephron epithelia in isolated rat metanephric mesenchyme over a time period of 7 days. This study was designed to characterize the temporal sequence of gene expression in the course of the conversion process induced by each of the distinct inducers.

Gene expression profiles of canonical and non-canonical NF-B signaling pathways in Hodgkins lymphoma
  • organism-icon Homo sapiens
  • sample-icon 24 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge Icon Affymetrix Human Gene 1.0 ST Array (hugene10st)

Description

Malignant Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) cells are characterized by constitutive activation of the canonical as well as the non-canonical NF-B signaling cascades. We depleted subunit combinations corresponding to either canonical (p50/RelA) or non-canonical (p52/RelB) dimers in the HL cell line L-1236 and performed Affymetrix microarray analysis. Knockdown of p52/RelB affected the expression of a significantly higher number of genes than the knockdown of p50/RelA. The two sets of target genes presented a partial overlap, however they also revealed specific genes that are involved in distinct aspects of tumor biology.

Repeat elements study in pluripotent stem cells [expression array]

  • sample-icon 18 Downloadable Samples
  • Technology Badge IconIllumina HumanHT-12 V4.0 expression beadchip

Description

We surveyed RNA-Seq data to identify those TEs that are transcriptionally active uniquely in human pluripotent cells. We identified one endogenous retrovirus (HERV-H) family, uniquely found in primates as being unusually abundant in the transcriptome. The microarray data provided is to support our human naive cell hypothesis.
