The HepaRG cell line was cultured in William's E medium (Invitrogen) supplemented with 10% Fetal Calf Serum (Cellgro), 100 units/ml penicillin, 100 µg/ml streptomycin (Invitrogen), 5 µg/ml insulin (Sigma), and 5 x 10–5 M hydrocortisone hemisuccinate (Sigma). To induce differentiation, a two-step procedure was used [Parent R et al. Gastroenterology 2004; 126-1147-56]. Proliferative cells were harvested 2 days after seeding. Differentiated cells were harvested 28 days after seeding
